What the heck is THIS?

I own a home. I big one. With a big yard that needs a LOT of mulch. How much mulch? I don't know- lets Google it. I did. Being unsure how to ask the question I bluntly typed in "how many cubic feet of mulch" and instantly I found a nifty calculator that provided me with the exact amount (after plugging in the length, width and depth of needed mulch.) 13.7 cubic feet. Great. Now I am about to sign off when I see this little pseudo-advertisement. "Share what you know and write a knol."
What the HECK is a knol? But it was sponsored by Google so I decided to look at it. In short, a "knol" is a unit of knowledge and the invitation to write one looks almost exactly like this blog site. After looking a little furthur (and thanks to last week's readings) I realize that a knol is a wiki by any other name. This wiki (which invites knowledgable input from self-proclaimed and verified "experts" on any particular item of interest).
In short: Knol is to Google as Wiki is to Wikipedia.
I think I got it.
